CHAPTER I – SIRMIONE
“Sirmione, pearl of the islands and peninsulas…” Catullus
Like Venus, Mevrian is born from blue, foamy waters.
Everything begins here, on the lake that is home for Mevrian. It was born right in the center of Garda, divided by the Sirmione peninsula which extends like the septum of a heart dividing two ventricles pulsating with blue water.
It was born in Sirmione, so small and fragile, perched on the edge of a narrow strip of land, the whole world passes by every year.
Curious glances come from everywhere, hungry for beauty; they come to immerse themselves in the vast blue of the sky and the lake, to discover that charm that has brought man to these shores since ancient times.
And light blue is the color that recurs most in this collection, which I created taking inspiration from the “pearl of islands and peninsulas.”
A clear, bright blue, which stands out even closer to the other colors in this line: red, yellow and black, simple but effective, very modern and traditional at the same time.
The clean and sophisticated lines of minimalist dresses are combined with romantic and feminine details, transparencies of tulle and organza that are like light clouds in the summer sky, like butterfly wings in flower gardens.
Concept of elegance here is given in the shape of lightness, simplicity, clear carefreeness.
Even a crisp and irregular material like shantung silk ripples in light waves like fresh water.
And the details are designed like water: the multi-layered skirts are like veils of water that overlap each other going up the stony beaches; the necklines are changeable, they cross, intertwine and dissolve, creating different versions although the raw material is always the same.
Sirmione is the collection for simple and joyful souls, which resonate with laughter and the sound of water.
